You can customize you task bar of windows i am telling you how you can do this in simple steps -

First thing you need to do is Right click on your windows 7 task bar and then one pop up window will raise and it will look like this -
By default this task bar having large icon and you can customize those icons with small icons.
For customizing youw windows task bar check the "Use small icons" checkbox. This replace your large icons to the small icons on task bar and your task will customize and will look like -
And you are done you can see more attractive icons then before in windows 7.
